On June 6, Split will for the 5th consecutive time host Split Pride, a social and political manifestation. Split Pride is announced to begin with a 5 p.m. gathering in Đardin and the parade will an hour later pass through Kralja Tomislava Street, Mamontova Street, the Promenade, Marulićeva Street, and return to Đardin via the main square and Bosanska Street.
The slogan of this year’s parade is “Let’s come out to a safe Split” and the organizer, Rišpet—LGBT Association Split, announced that it wants to draw attention to the violence that their members face every day on the streets of Split.
Deputy Mayor Goran Kovačević confirmed that the organizers have the full support of the City of Split and stated that everybody’s goal is to live in a more tolerant society where all forms of discrimination have been abolished because only a discrimination-free society is a society of happy citizens.
