An educational trip was held from June 15th to June 18th 2014 in Vienna (Austria), which was organized by Women’s Room – Center for Sexual Rights (Zagreb), and as a part of the project “Through Education Knowledge – Through Cooperation for Change”, with partner organizations Center for Women – Adela, Sisak, Association of Women – HERA, Križevci, Association Brod – Group for Women’s Human Rights and SOS Phone – City of Rijeka, Association for Providing Help to Victims of Violence, to enhance cooperation with organizations of civil society from the EU Union.

After visiting shelters for women victims of violence in Wiener Neustadt the participants visited the headquarters of the European Network Against Violence Against Women (WAVE), whose executive director is Maria Rösslhumer, and became familiar with the work of the national helpline for women survivors of violence. They have also visited the Interventional Center for Domestic Violence and met with its executive director Rosa Logar who together with her colleagues explained to the participants the work and the importance of their organization. On the last day of travel, Serine Duzdar informed the participants of the work of the Orient Express organization and shelters intended for women and girls who are victims of forced marriages.

Participating partner organizations in the project achieved contacts and cooperation, and opened up space for the exchange of experiences and knowledge with organizations engaged in combating violence against women in Austria. Also many examples of good practice in combating gender-based violence were appropriated which will greatly benefit the improving of the standards in working with women victims of violence in Croatia.

The educational trip was held as a part of the project “Through Education Knowledge – Through Cooperation for Change, which is financially supported by the National Foundation for Civil Society Development.
